Mechanical Suspensions
The entire standard range of leaf
spring suspensions covers axle loads from 8,000 kg to 20,000
kg. BPW spring suspension are suitable for use in on/off highway conditions.
The central support axle is either mounted in rubber or
bronze bushes, depending on the suspension specification. For
vehicles with a high centre of gravity, it may be necessary to
install additional stabilisers.
Swivel Bogie
BPW Tandem swivel axles are
designed for extreme applications and are built accordingly.
Experience with the most difficult traffic conditions worldwide -
including off road - has proven that BPW designs meet every
requirement. The high quality, thick walled bronze bearing bushes
are unrivalled in terms of strength and reliability. This robust
design makes a major contribution to a long service life.
The bronze bearing bushes have
integrated lubrication ducts which hold a large amount of grease.
Good bearing lubrication is guaranteed, even after long distances
or extended service intervals. This results in good sliding
properties and low wear.
BPW tandem swivel axles are
supplied ready to install. Two swivel axles are connected by a
rocker beam which is bearing mounted at the centre. In this way
any unevenness in the road surface can be absorbed by the swivel
actions both longitudinally and laterally. In practice, BPW
swivel axle assemblies need to be fitted in pairs, one on each
side of the trailer.
 
BPW tandem axles are
designed for axle loads of 2 x 10,000 kg up to 2 x 20,000 kg.
They were especially developed for heavy-duty low-loaders, semi
trailers and special purpose vehicles which are used under
extreme conditions both on and off road.
