Machines and vehicles in the
agricultural industry have to be prepared for all eventualities, for example
varying payloads and the most varied ground conditions or as quick-as-possible
runs by highway or country road. Some spend most of the year in the shed, only
to find themselves in round-the-clock operation for just a few weeks during
harvest. No farmer can, or cares to afford unscheduled downtime, which is why
they demand quality 'made by BPW'.
For over 100 years, BPW running gear
technology has stood for uncompromising reliability and safety, durability and
robustness; decisive factors which guarantee that users of vehicles and machines
with BPW running gear are kept moving in the farming industry.
BPW offers an unequalled range of products for
agricultural machinery including air sprung, hydro pneumatic or mechanical
suspension assemblies, axles with adjustable track widths and self-steering
axles.
Quality is a standard feature of BPW running
gear and that includes optimal rust protection ensured by electro-dip coating
and air-sprung suspensions as well as generous brake lining wear capacities for
increased service life.
For BPW, quality also means being able to
provide the out-of-the-ordinary. For example patented self-steering axles and
brake cylinders or specially profiled and reinforced axle beams offering
significant advantages in terms of weight and design to cope with the highest
levels of stress.

Designed for speeds of up to 65
km/h, the self-steering axle makes for reduced stress on road surfaces, tyres
and vehicles. It ensures secure straight-ahead travel and quick steering
response when travelling through bends. The solid and hollow axle beams easily
handle axle loads of 7,000 - 16,000 kg. Special features include the
patented thrust bearing, flat cam and wing brakes as well as welded brackets
optimally tailored to the brake cylinders. There is one further feature,
namely the optional power steered facility with hydraulic cylinders.

Bogie Suspensions for agricultural use |

For the farming sector, BPW
have released to the Australian market the proven tandem axle assemblies, GSGW
and GSBW. These are parabolically sprung single point suspensions, fitted with
steel-rubber or bronze bushes, which ensure a particularly high degree of
directional stability and equalisation. As well as the standard version, BPW
also offers this suspension in steered form, with hydraulic locking or power
steering. Various bracket heights and offset centre points of the axle and
bearing block pivot, make for improved handling on any farm.
The GSGW model is suitable for a suspension
load of up to 18 tonnes at 16km/h tonnes. The GSBW series is designed to carry
loads up to 22 tonnes at speeds of 60 km/h.

Self-Steering Independant Walking Beam Bogies |

Tandem axle suspensions are
also available for applications involving speeds of up to 40 km/h. The
self-levelling facility ensures high directional stability in any situation,
whilst beam steering makes for optimum self-steering characteristics. The
steering can be hydraulically locked for safe reversing. Suspension loads on
this series range from 14 - 40 tonnes at 40 km/h.
